Widget and theme setup

Translate the storefront widget

Use built-in storefront languages and override individual labels.

Translate the storefront widget

How the language is chosen

The widget reads the storefront locale and selects a matching built-in translation when one is available. A region-specific match is preferred, then the base language, then the default wording.

If the storefront locale is not supported, the widget falls back to the configured default wording instead of showing missing labels.

Override the wording

Use the label fields on the Appearance page to replace the wording for an exact locale or its base language. Merchant overrides take priority over built-in translations.

Review the storefront in each language you publish. Built-in translations are a starting point and should be checked by someone fluent in the language before launch.
