One job, done properly
Every app here solves a single problem well rather than nine adequately. That is why there are several small apps instead of one suite with a settings page nobody finishes reading.
About
Appnux makes Shopify apps. That is the whole business. It is deliberately narrow — narrow enough that the person writing the code is the person answering your email.
The short version
Appnux started from the other side of the counter. Its apps are built and supported by someone who works on real Shopify storefronts day to day — which is where most of these problems were noticed in the first place, usually while trying to solve them with something that already existed and finding it wanting.
That is why the catalogue looks the way it does. Every app on it is a specific complaint: a shop-finder page nobody could search, a map that would not draw without a billing account, a stockist list that lived in a spreadsheet and stayed there. The apps are the answers, one at a time.
It is also why the roadmap is short and honest. There are 7 apps in the workshop and exactly one of them is nearly finished. Publishing that plainly is more useful than a page implying a product line that does not exist.
The business is new. The domain is new. What is not new is the work behind the first app — Store Locator Pro has been built, torn apart and rebuilt against real stores, and it goes to the App Store when it is ready rather than when it would be convenient.
Why Appnux
They are not marketing lines. They are the constraints that decide what gets built and what gets cut.
Every app here solves a single problem well rather than nine adequately. That is why there are several small apps instead of one suite with a settings page nobody finishes reading.
An app should ask for what its job requires and nothing more. Store Locator Pro requests zero Shopify data scopes; the optional ones are requested only if you switch on the feature that needs them.
The storefront is your customer's experience, not somewhere to park a script. Widgets load on the page they are placed on, fetch only what is on screen, and animate on properties that do not force a reflow.
Setup you can finish yourself, wording you can rewrite, styling that is not paywalled to the top tier, and a real person answering support — because there is no support team to hide behind.
Boundaries
A list of principles is easy. These are the ones with a cost attached — each of them gives something up.
One app that does nine things means eight of them are somebody's afterthought. Each Appnux app stays small enough that its whole settings page fits on one screen.
Requesting broad access “in case we need it later” is how merchant data ends up somewhere nobody intended. Permissions are requested for a feature, when that feature is switched on.
Styling, wording and custom CSS are not premium features — they are what makes an app look like part of your store. Plans differ on capacity, not on dignity.
There are no ratings, review counts, merchant numbers, awards or testimonials anywhere on this site, because none of them exist yet. When they do, they will be real and they will be checkable.

Whether it fits an app we are building, an app we have not thought of, or nothing at all — hearing what actually gets in your way is how the next one gets chosen.
